As S. Florida real estate experts, we are continuously monitoring innovation, economic activity, investment, and business expansion in the communities we serve.
Why is this relevant, you might ask?
Because we know innovation spurs job creation, which in turn, fuels demand in the real estate market. As more and more people obtain high-paying jobs, their quality of life improves, and they look to upgrade their homes and spend more money in the economy.
This proves to be a powerful cycle and is central to the decisions we help our clients make each and every day.
Our goal for this week’s article is not to debate economic cycles but rather to highlight some of the top companies creating new jobs in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. We know these companies are at the forefront of recruiting new professionals to our cities and form the building blocks of our economy.
We think it’s important for our readers and clients to be aware of these trends as well.
Based in Weston, FL, Ultimate Software has plans to increase its workforce by 600 employees or roughly 27% over the next year. Ultimate has grown from a human resources software company started in 1990 to a software behemoth with nearly $1 billion in revenues last year.
Fortune consistently ranks Ultimate as one of the best companies to work for in the US and touts its reputation of hiring stellar engineers, product managers, and designers — all of whom are an integral part of our local real estate market. Ultimate is just one of the many reasons our team is hot on Weston and W. Broward.
No list of S. Florida employers would be complete without Magic Leap… This virtual reality firm took the world by storm when it raised $1.9 billion and announced plans to hire 2,000 people in S. Florida.
Magic Leap currently operates out of a 260,000-square-foot space in Plantation, FL drawing talent (and thus fueling the housing market) across every single one of our communities. Magic Leap has no plans to slow down and has a variety of high-paying technology job openings posted on any given day.
From its headquarters in Miami, FL, CareCloud is a leading provider of cloud-based practice management, electronic health record, and medical billing software.
All told, CareCloud has raised $128.4 million to date, and while it may not be the fastest-growing/hiring company on this list, it is still a major player in S. Florida’s tech scene with 250 employees and counting. When it comes to hiring tech talent, CareCloud is a force to be reckoned with.
In many ways, Citrix is one of S. Florida’s original tech powerhouses. Having operated out of its Fort Lauderdale headquarters since 1997, Citrix has grown to employ 1,700 people in S. Florida and plans to onboard an additional 250 in that office over the next year.
40% of Citrix’s current openings are related to software engineering, which often means highly-paid, well-educated employees who are looking for real estate investment opportunities — a perfect situation for our clients in Broward County.
It’s important to note that while these four companies are important, the S. Florida business climate goes well beyond our notes in this article. Amazon, for example, is still considering Miami for its second headquarters location. If that were to happen, Amazon HQ2 would incite sweeping positive economic changes on a scale our city has never seen before.
No matter if you’re looking to sell or rent your property in S. Florida, things are looking promising for the local job and real estate markets.
