Upper East Side: Miami’s Next Real Estate Boom?

We are huge fans of Miami’s Upper East Side neighborhood.

The Upper East Side is eclectic, home to the famed MiMo architecture style, and full of new restaurants, stores, galleries, and boutique hotels.  As a result, this area has become a hub of creative entrepreneurs and was recently hailed as one of the fastest-growing areas in Miami-Dade County.

In our opinion, the Upper East Side perfect.  On one side, you have peaceful, bay-front neighborhoods with parks and canals.  On the other lies Biscayne Boulevard with its development projects and the accessibility a major roadway.

The list of reasons we like the Upper East Side could go on and on, but we narrowed it down to three for this article:

1) Architecture & Preservation

Ask any local about the Upper East Side, and chances are the Vagabond Hotel will come up in the conversation.  Spearheaded by developer Avra Jain, the Vagabond has become a symbol of preservation and revitalization in the Upper East Side.  In the 90s and early 2000s, the Vagabond was just another neglected property that had fallen into disrepair.  It has since been totally revitalized with luxurious amenities while still maintaining the original look and feel of a 1950s motel.

The beauty of MiMo architecture doesn’t end with the Vagabond.  All along Biscayne Boulevard you see examples of quintessential MiMo style from Andiamo Pizza to the Sinbad Motel and Bacardi Building.

Who wouldn’t want to live in a place like this?

2) Investment Opportunities

Development is just starting to take off in the Upper East Side, which means now is a good time to invest in property.

Housing prices are still relatively affordable compared to neighborhoods with similar vibes/accessibility such as Coconut Grove and Coral Gables.  Belle Meade, for example, is a fantastic section of the Upper East Side we often refer our clients to.

3) Culture

Look, there’s something special about the burgeoning cafes, galleries, and coffee shops in the Upper East Side.

One of our favorite locales is IRONSIDE which features an outdoor garden with Rainbow Eucalyptus trees, a variety of boutiques, a quaint coffee shop, and a pizza restaurant.  IRONSIDE is a hidden gem inside the Upper East Side that few people know about…  For now…  🙂

Take our word for it or go see for yourself…  The Upper East Side is a treasure among the Miami neighborhoods.
